Welcome to the Kingdom of Morocco, the home of Mohamad Ahansal, the 5 times winner of the legendary Marathon des Sables. This international event is as a 110 K nonstop race a challenging ultra marathon, as 57 plus 53 K the perfect preparation for a stage race and as 57 or 53 K a great experience.
Fly in, run & have fun!
From the airport of Zagora, the gateway to the Sahara, it is only a catwalk to the Bivouac Ahansal. The transfer is organized, as well as on request from Marrakech or Quarzazat. On the spot everything is ready, the tents with beds are already set up and the lunch is already waiting for you.
Running & living in the desert
The bivouac is located in a wide valley surrounded by dunes, the perfect training ground for us. There, Mohamad shows us how to run as efficiently as possible and gives us valuable tips for the race. In addition, each participant plants a palm tree and thereby makes a valuable contribution to the ecological balance of the region.
Singletrails & caravan route
The start will be at sunrise. In front of you is a fantastic track with three passes and all in all 1,480 meters of altitude, imposing, big dunes, green oases and fabulous landscapes. The trail is well marked and there are water and tea at the eight checkpoints -> map.

Program & services
The price for the UTMES 2019 from the 14th to the 18th of March is € 585.00 by registration till 12/31/2018, € 635.00 from 1/1/2019 and includes the transfer from and to the Zagora airport, four nights in the Bivouac, catering, water and tea, briefing for and participation in the race, palm for the ECO Project, English speaking support, participant gift as well as medals and certificates for the finishers and trophies for the winners.

Details & tips
With Morocco, we travel to an Arab country, which is extremely hospitable and very concerned about the safety of its guests. Nevertheless, there are certain points which are different from ours, which may take longer than expected, or at first glance are unusual. Ultimately, everything is fine with the necessary respect and appropriate serenity.
If you have any questions about the course, information about the race and the equipment etc., you will find the answers here. Of course, the UTMES is also suitable for a trip for two and with accompaniment. We like to organize everything for you!
